Welcome to the Writers Salon, where we host events for writers and budding writers from the North East to network, socialise, learn and share experiences. Our events take place quarterly and are free for anyone to join.
Join us on Thursday 23rd April at 5:30pm for the next Writers Salon at Seven Stories—a warm, vibrant and inspiring gathering for writers and illustrators at every stage of their creative journey. Founded by Seven Stories and rooted in our mission to support authors and illustrators across the country, the Writers Salon has grown into a thriving community where creatives can meet, share experiences and explore the art of storytelling together. Whether you’re just beginning to dip your toes into writing or you’re further along in your publishing journey, this free event offers an inclusive and welcoming space designed to help your creativity flourish.
The Salon was born from an informal meet‑up of storytellers and has since evolved into a supportive hub where ideas spark, connections form and new voices are nurtured. Described as “truly magic” and celebrated for its accessibility and community spirit, the Salon invites you to come along, relax, chat, and immerse yourself in a creative environment shaped by collaboration and kindness. It’s the perfect opportunity to learn from peers, gain insights into both traditional and self‑publishing, and surround yourself with others who share your passion for writing and illustrating—right here at the National Centre for Children’s Books. We can’t wait to welcome you!
Next session: Thursday 23rd April, 5:30PM – Seven Stories Ouseburn
All Writers Salon events are free to drop in, but please pre-book your spot.
