Judith Kerr’s Kitchen

discover the details

Discover Judith Kerr's original kitchen from the 1960s and enjoy tea with the Tiger himself!

Find Judith Kerr’s own kitchen, which inspired the bestselling classic The Tiger Who Came to Tea, in addition to a life-size Tiger, in a permanent exhibition at Seven Stories!

Seven Stories has been the home of Judith Kerr’s considerable archive since 2008, and now we’re thrilled to also have units from her kitchen, which will be familiar to fans of the book as the backdrop to many of her illustrations.

See the famous yellow units in the exhibit for free every day except Wednesdays in term-time (10am – 5pm unless closed for an event or workshop).

Judith’s archive is the most significant collection of artwork by a single illustrator in our Collection and spans over seven decades of material. It includes initial sketches of the ‘Tiger’ character – which she practised on visits to the zoo! Explore via our digital exhibition or take a wander down the hall to say hello to Mog!
