ABOUT George and the Mini Dragon:
George wants four special things for his birthday:
A kit of magic tricks
A game called ZapQuest
A book about lizards
…and most importantly…
4. His very own PET!
When George blows out his birthday candles, he makes a very special wish – and stumbles upon a MINI DRAGON behind the shed.
George and the Mini Dragon is not only a a story sprinkled with magic, but also a thoughtful account of a young person with Down syndrome that includes a portrait of life at home and in school including:
· Working one-to-one with a teaching assistant alongside his classmates
· Using Makaton signing language as an additional tool to communicate with children and adults
· Addressing everyday challenges such as difficulties with fine motor skills and physical aptitude

ABOUT the author:
George’s new book beautifully conveys an inspiring story that highlights the importance of inclusivity, diversity and representation. Every child, regardless of their background or abilities, deserves to feel a shared sense of belonging in both the classroom and on the playground. George exemplifies this idea, demonstrating that by showing kindness and respect to one another and embracing our unique qualities, we can all flourish.
It was also at around this age that George learned to read, and the joy of storytelling opened up to him. His hope is that all children – those with and without a learning disability – will enjoy delving into the world of George and the Mini Dragon.
