Join us for a unforgettable, educational experience at Seven Stories as we go on a journey of discovery and explore our nationally recognised Collection of British children’s literature through inspiring workshops, imaginative exhibitions and white glove opportunities to handle original work from our archive.
Each of our workshops explore one of two key themes: ‘Home’ and ‘Traditional Tales’ – head to the links below to discover unique workshops for your class and year group.
To enquire about a workshop, or if you’re looking for a more bespoke offer for your class, please contact our Education Team for more information via learning@sevenstories.org.uk
'Home'
Early Years to Key Stage Two
‘Home’ looks a little different to each and every one of us. At Seven Stories, the theme of ‘home’ can be found woven throughout our national archive of children’s literature; reflecting how we are all connected through stories of home.

A Bit Lost (EYFS)
Enter the woodland, where all of the creatures within our favourite stories live and children are invited to learn about the world through play. Your class will transform into story rangers, gathering around the storytelling campfire before working together to create homes for story-book animals by encountering different habitats and behaviours throughout this sensory workshop.
Inspired by 'A Bit Lost' by Chris Haughton

The Story Sea (KS1)
Set sail on an extraordinary voyage in this performance-based workshop that requires heaps of imagination to transport your class from the docks of the Seven Stories Seas and into an aquatic discovery. Become a part of the ship’s crew as we embark on a problem-solving mission to wake up the sea through a series of challenges set around themes of memory, home and transportation.

Bits and Bobs (KS2)
Do you know of the Borrowers? The tiny people who live inside the secret spots of old buildings...well, we think the Seven Stories Attic may contain a few of their own! In this storytelling workshop, you’ll shrink down to the size of a chess piece and work as a team to exercise empathy and understanding while employing your own storytelling skills before the magic runs out and it’s time to return to real-life.
Inspired by 'The Borrowers' by Mary Norton
'Traditional Tales'
Early Years to Key Stage Two
Stories help us to appreciate that the world is just a page away. Inspired by our Collection of original artwork and manuscripts, we’ve embarked on an epic journey to find what traditional tales mean to us today...

The Sweet Escape (EYFS)
Follow the scents of sweet cinnamon to enter Chelsea Bun’s Bakery – but her famous gingerbread recipe has gone awry! Your class will need to follow a trail of clues to collect the necessary ingredients while searching our galleries and engaging in rhyming activities. This mobility-focused workshop is perfect for energetic early years looking for a little enchantment!

Mixed-Up Tales (KS1)
Journey deep into enchanted woods to discover how stories are crafted to captivate and inspire. This narrative-driven workshop guides pupils through the art of storytelling, allowing them to unravel the secrets of story structure and unleash their creativity to piece together a tornado of tangled tales.
Inspired by a host of traditional tales from our collection of work including Hansel and Gretel, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and much more!

The Case of the Missing Turnip (KS2)
This “whodunnit” workshop takes place in the Happily Ever After, where we take on the role of detective to solve folklores of the land. Your class will engage in interactive character study, gathering suspects and writing for the local newspaper to make their way around this very important case. With a carousel of evidence, you’ll catch the culprit and help crack the case of the missing turnip while learning a few valuable lessons on the way!
